ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES

Frog At Women's Surf Camp

In order to care for the beautiful waters we get to surf in, we’ve partnered with the our hotel, Tropico Latino, to participate in environmentally sustainable initiatives that make a lasting impact.

Tropico Latino is not only one of the top 5 hotels in Santa Teresa with the world’s best smoothies (maybe we’re biased), but they coordinate and sponsor the Blue Flag ecological program that organizes sustainable initiatives for ALL FOUR beaches in the area (Mal Pais, Playa Carmen, Santa Teresa, and Hermosa), which ensures the quality and sanitation of the water, beach clean-up projects, community informational signs, and environmental education.

They are also committed to conserve the vibrant biodiversity and richness of the rainforest that surrounds the region. Which is evident in when you stay at the retreat and see all the old trees and growth on their property.

LEASHES FOR LOCALS

Local Kid At Women's Surf Camp

Here in Santa Teresa we are lucky to introduce our students to some of the best surf in Costa Rica—in an amazing spot that has been called one of the world’s top ten beaches! We love the waves here, the people, and the community. We’re so stoked to get to share the surf with the rippers in the lineup from town, and we want to support them!

That’s why we started Leashes for Locals: an on-going supply drive to provide leashes, wax, and sunscreen for the kids in the community.

That’s right, YOU get to be a part of helping this town create epic shredders and rippers for years to come!

If you’re coming to visit us for a women’s surf camp and want to give something back to the lovely place that will give you some amazing waves, consider stashing an extra leash, sunscreen, or a couple of bars of wax in your suitcase.

We’ll collect anything you bring and Michelle, one of our local surf instructors, will redistribute it to the ticos and ticas taking charge in the lineup.
